Fragrance Notes Explained | NOXAEL Australia
A fragrance note is a named smell in a perfume’s published formula. It is not a guarantee you will notice that smell at every hour. Notes are grouped into a pyramid: top (first impression), heart (the core) and base (the finish). Reading the pyramid is the most reliable way to shop Arabian perfume online.
This article defines the notes that appear most often on NOXAEL product pages. It does not replace the scent-family guide.
Direct answer
Vanilla is a sweet, soft base note. Amber is a warm resinous accord, not a single sap. Oud is an agarwood-style woody-resinous note. Musk is a clean or skin-like finish. Rose is a floral heart. Cacao is a chocolate-leaning gourmand note. Coffee and spices such as cinnamon, cardamom and pepper add roast or warmth. On the current NOXAEL shelf, those words are printed on specific product pages — use those pages, not memory, when you choose.
How to read a pyramid
| Stage | When you usually notice it | Typical role |
|---|---|---|
| Top notes | First minutes | Citrus, fruit, light spice |
| Heart notes | After the opening settles | Florals, fruits, gourmand accords, coffee, rose |
| Base notes | Later in the wear | Vanilla, musk, woods, oud, amber, tonka, resins |
If you dislike a note, check where it sits. A bergamot top is brief. An oud or vanilla base is the part you live with.

Musk A soft, clean or skin-like base. Listed on Qahwa, Nebras, Yara, Yara Candy, Ana Abiyedh Rouge, Hawas, Club De Nuit Intense Man.
Rose A floral heart that can read fresh, jammy or velvety. Listed on Nebras (heart), Amethyst (Turkish and Bulgarian rose), Club De Nuit Intense Man (heart).
Cacao Suggests cocoa. Named in Nebras, in the heart with vanilla and rose.
Chocolate, caramel, praline, sugar, tonka Chocolate and caramel: Dubai Chocolate. Praline: Khamrah, Qahwa, Dubai Chocolate. Sugar: Nebras, Ameer Al Oudh. Tonka: Khamrah, Qahwa, Nebras, Dubai Chocolate.

Fruit and citrus Apple, pineapple, lemon, bergamot, mandarin, tangerine, blackcurrant, pear, plum, dates and tropical fruits appear as openings or hearts. Fruit in the top does not make a perfume “fresh” by itself — Asad opens with pineapple and is still an amber evening style.
Florals beyond rose Orchid and heliotrope in Yara; gardenia in Yara Candy; tuberose and mahonial in Khamrah; jasmine in Amethyst and Club De Nuit Intense Man; orange blossom in Hawas; geranium in Ana Abiyedh Rouge; iris in Asad.
A note list cannot tell you wear time, projection, whether you will like it on your skin, or gender. If two bottles list vanilla, they can still wear differently.
Frequently asked questions
Is amber the same as oud? No. Amber is a warm resinous accord. Oud is an agarwood-style wood. Amethyst uses both.
Is cacao the same as chocolate? Related, not identical. Nebras lists cacao. Dubai Chocolate lists chocolate.
Why do woods have different names? Sandalwood, birch, driftwood and agarwood are different materials. The product page names the one in that formula.
Where should I start if I only remember one note I like? Find that word on the product pages above, then open the Scent Guide.
